An azan that twenty-two people fulfilled by giving their lives. A message that is running like blood in the veins of the Kashmiri people. Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is an eternal story of struggle and sacrifice against the Dogra rule.

On July 13, 1931, there was a trial for treason against Abdul Qadir, a Kashmiri youth imprisoned in Srinagar Central Jail. Thousands of Kashmiri people gathered outside the jail on this occasion. During Zuhr prayers, a Kashmiri youth shouted Azan and was shot dead by a Dogra soldier.

From there, the butterflies of Tawheed passed the call to prayer and the Dogra soldiers also continued firing. One by one, a young man drank the cup of martyrdom but the call to prayer kept resounding and thus 22 Kashmiris completed the call to prayer with their lives.
