The seventeenth death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet, Ahmed Faraz is being observed today (Monday).
Ahmad Faraz was born on January 12, 1931 in Kohat. His real name was Syed Ahmad Shah.
Ahmad Faraz started his career as a script writer for Radio Pakistan Peshawar and later joined Peshawar University as a lecturer.
Janaan Janaan, Tanha Tanha, Ghazal Bahana Karun, and Shab Khoon are some of his literary works.
He was a member of the Progressive Writers Movement.
Ahmad Faraz was decorated with a number of national and international awards including Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz.
He died on this day in 2008.
