Meanwhile , total of 18 officers and officials have been closed at the traffic headquarters on the grounds of corruption and other irregularities. The closed officers include District Traffic Officer Bahawalnagar DSP, Hassan Danial and District Traffic Officer DG Khan Imran Rashid. Reader to CTO Multan Umar Ishtiaq, Traffic Warden Licensing Branch Multan Abdul Rauf, Incharge License Branch City Traffic Police Multan Mahir Akhlaq Ahmed, Incharge License Branch Bahawalnagar Muhammad Ajmal, Traffic Warden Multan Tajammul Ahmed and Traffic Warden Bahawalnagar Waseem Tahir have been suspended and closed to line. Similarly, three days ago, Rahim Yar Khan Traffic Police Sub-Inspector Shakeel Ahmed, Sub-Inspector Hafiz Nooruddin, Head Constable Muhammad Tariq, Head Constable Abdul Razzaq Paras, Constable Imtiaz Ahmed Rahim, Constable Abdul Rehman, Constable Abdul Aziz Rahi, Constable Ehsan Ali, Constable Ayaz Ahmed. Constable Saleem Ahmed have also been suspended and closed to line. SSP Traffic Headquarters Dr. Bushra has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer against the closed and suspended officers and personnel who will conduct further departmental inquiries against them.
DIG Traffic Sohail Akhtar Sukhera directed the vigilance teams to conduct surprise inspections in the licensing branches of different districts and send their inquiry reports and suggestions to traffic headquarters in order to eradicate corruption. He further said that there is no place for corrupt officers or officials in the police department and such black sheep would be expelled. He directed the Chief Traffic Officers to expedite the surprise visits of traffic licensing branches in their districts and ensure implementation of all SOPs issued including rotation policy.
