At least 22 Taliban were killed and 24 others were wounded in clashes with security forces in the northern province of Faryab on Sunday, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on Monday.
No information about security force casualties was given.
The clashes occurred as the Taliban attacked Khwaja Sabz Posh and Pashtoon Kot districts, as well as parts of Maimana, the provincial capital, said the statement.
“Zulfiqar, a Taliban group leader, is among the dead,” said the MoD statement.
However, the Taliban has not commented on the attack.
