23 members of Punjab’s Assembly have so far tested positive for coronavirus, a development that comes two days before Punjab Assembly reconvenes.
Among those who tested positive on Wednesday were Members of Legislative Assembly Pargat Singh and Gurpratap Wadala.
Former Hockey Olympian Pargat Singh is a Congress MLA from Jalandhar Cantt. Gurpratap Wadala is an MLA from Nakodar and a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
The development comes a day after Minister for Industries and Commerce Sunder Sham Arora, Congress MLAs from Rajpura and Ghanaur Hardyal Singh Kamboj and Madan Lal Jalalpur, respectively, and SAD MLA from Sanaur Harinder Pal Chandumajra tested positive.
Punjab is scheduled to hold a one-day session of its 117-member assembly on August 28.
