ISLAMABAD, July 09 (APP): Islamabad Police have challanned 24 police officers, 47 media persons, 63 MNAs, MPAs and Senators, 39 judiciary related personnel, 39 celebrities, 71 foreigners and 131 officers above grade-18 during the last six months for violating traffic rules.

This was said in performance report of Islamabad police in respect of first six months of this year.

Report said 575 challan tickets were issued on overspeeding, 9112 on violation of traffic signals , 11213 against  black papers, 45353 for driving without  wearing helmet, 60619 for rash  driving, 1231 on violation of lane, 2710 on route violations, 276 for misbehaving with the passengers and 15805 for not fastening seat belts.  2397 challan tickets were issued on driving by under age drivers.

The report claimed the federal capital has witnessed 35 percent decline in fatal accidents and 16 percent in general accidents.

Traffic police collected a sum of over Rs 85 million on account of fine from citizens for violating traffic rules.  Challan tickets were issued to 502 VIPS for violating traffic rules.

IG Islamabad Amir Zulfiqar Khan has said traffic police should make the travelling mode safe for the citizens. Help will be sought from safe city for containing traffic rules violations.
