Jan 28, 2022: As the fifth wave of Covid-19 rages across Pakistan, 260 doctors and nurses of PIMS Hospital in Islamabad have contracted the corona virus.

Officials say OPDs at PIMS Hospital have been reduced due to a large number of staff suffering from corona and SOPs are being strictly enforced.

District Health Officer (DHO) Zaeem Zia said that 1550 people were diagnosed with corona in one day in Islamabad and the rate of positive cases has reached 17.13%.

On the other hand, OPD in Polyclinic Hospital Rawalpindi has been closed till January 31, while due to increase in Corona cases, it has been decided to impose lockdown in different areas of Rawalpindi.

In the last 24 hours, 30 more people have died from the deadly virus across the country while 8183 new cases have been reported in Pakistan. According to the corona statistics website (covid.gov.pk) in Pakistan, 68624 corona tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours, out of which 8183 people were confirmed to have corona virus and 30 more from the virus.

According to the official portal, the rate of positive cases of corona in the country during the last 24 hours was 11.92%
