India: At least 27 people, including 11 children and 11 women, died as a tractor-trolley overturned on the road in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Saturday. At least 30 others were injured who are being treated at a hospital.
The tractor-trolley, carrying over 50 pilgrims, was on its way to Ghatampur from Fatehpur where the passengers attended a “mundan” ceremony at the Chandrika Devi temple. It met with an accident after it overturned and fell into a pond near Bhadeuna village, located within the Saar police station limits. The police and rescue teams reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital.
“An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the next of kin of each of the deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” stated another PMO tweet.
