Lahore: International Overdose Awareness Day is observed on 31 August each year and it aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug related death.
It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died.
Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) a project of YOCFAN organised a special talk on Highlight July and August monthly unknown dead bodies of drug addicts. 76 homeless and unknown drug addicts dead bodies found in virus part of the Lahore in July and August 2021.
About 711 dead bodies of homeless drug addicts recovered during 20 months. The main reason was due to overdose and shortage of drugs.
Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Consultant Anti Drugs/Narcotics Campaign and Prevention Expert were talking to media about dissemination of report on July and August on Dead Bodies Homeless & Unknown Drug Addicts.
The report was prepared by Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) & YOCFAN. Syed Mohsin, Adeel Rashid, Dr. Ikram and Ms. Nida Tahir.
He further said If government have full facilities so, drug test can be possible to all government servant’s.
Syed Zulfiqar Hussain said that but most of areas are very high risky for addiction in which dead bodies of unknown homeless drug addicts are being found due to overdose of drugs, poor hygienic condition and not eating proper food.
Hussain mentioned that one women drug addict dead bodies also found in August, homeless young people are using hard and soft drugs on footpaths, gardens and different major roads in the city of Lahore, Still 120 pockets where people are using drugs and inject in the city of Lahore without any fear, he added.
