8 Soldiers Martyred in Successful Repulsion of Terrorist Assault in Bannu Cantonment: ISPR
In a tragic but heroic encounter at Bannu Cantonment, eight soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred while successfully repelling an attack by terrorists. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that all 10 attackers were eliminated during the confrontation, which took place early on July 15.
The ISPR detailed the sequence of events, explaining that the terrorists attempted to breach the military compound’s defenses but were effectively thwarted by the vigilant security forces. Unable to penetrate the facility, the attackers resorted to detonating a vehicle laden with explosives against the cantonment’s boundary wall.
The explosion caused significant damage, leading to the collapse of a section of the wall and nearby structures, resulting in the tragic loss of eight soldiers. The martyred soldiers were identified as:
– Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad
– Havildar Zil-e-Hussain
– Havildar Shahzad Ahmed
– Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain Khan
– Sepoy Sobhan Majeed
– Sepoy Imtiaz Khan
– Sepoy Arsalan Aslam
– Frontier Constabulary’s Lance Naik Sabz Ali
“This timely and effective response by the security forces prevented a major catastrophe, saving precious innocent lives,” the ISPR emphasized. “The gallant and selfless action of the security forces is a testament to their unrelenting resolve in the fight against terrorism.”
The military spokesperson identified the attackers as members of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, which is based in Afghanistan and has a history of launching attacks from Afghan territory into Pakistan. This group’s involvement underscores the ongoing security challenges and cross-border terrorism that Pakistan faces.
The ISPR’s statement reaffirmed the security forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation against terrorist threats and highlighted their readiness to take all necessary measures to counter such dangers originating from across the border.
