US ready to impose sanctions on Turkey

29th October: The United States is preparing to impose sanctions on Turkey.
Baaghi TV: According to a senior US State Department official, the threat of US sanctions on Turkey has come “very close to reality” after Turkey tested a Russian-made S-400 air defence system.
Clark Cooper, who is in charge of arms sales at the State Department, told reporters that “the proposed sanctions on Turkey seem to be largely feasible.”
Erdogan said that his country has tested the Russian air defence system on October 16. Washington has said that this move goes against Turkey’s membership in NATO alliance.
Cooper said Washington had informed Ankara over the past year that operating the S-400 system, which Turkey bought from Russia in 2017, would be a red line in the eyes of the United States.
“We have made it clear to Ankara that the S-400 missile test is absolutely unacceptable,” he said, adding that the US administration was still trying to persuade Turkey not to launch the missile.
