Indo-Pak postal services have also been suspended

Due to the ongoing tension between Pakistan and India, the postal services between the two countries have also been suspended, while according to the rules of the Universal Postal Union, the delivery of mail cannot be suspended even in case of war between the two countries. Talking to a senior official of Pakistan Post Lahore in this regard, he said that postal communication between Pakistan and India has been closed since October 2019. He confirmed that the postal service had continued through other channels, despite repeated tensions between the two countries. He also said that before October 2019, postal bags came to Pakistan from India through Wagah border, out of which 26 letters are still in the post office which could not be distributed. The recipients’ addresses on these letters are either incorrect or they refuse to receive them. He said that according to the law, Pakistan is bound to send these 26 letters back to India but due to closure of borders and air links between the two countries, those letters could not be sent back to India. However, the postal department contacted the Foreign Ministry in this regard.
