Court issues notice to the makers of web series ‘Mirzapur’
New Delhi, 8th February: The Indian Supreme Court has issued notice to the director and producer of the popular web series ‘Mirzapur’.
Baaghi TV: According to Indian media reports, a resident of Mirzapur city, Uttar Pradesh, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, alleging that the web series has defamed Mirzapur by showing it as an area of thugs and dacoits.
According to the petitioner, Mirzapur is a culturally diverse area but the film has misrepresented it, which has damaged the city’s reputation.
The Indian Supreme Court has summoned the director and producer of the web series on March 8.
Earlier, a case was registered against the producers of the web series, including Ritesh Sadhwani and Farhan Akhtar, for insulting religious sentiments and misrepresenting the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Actors Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and others have played the lead roles in the web series ‘Mirzapur’ while the first season was released in November 2018 which was much loved by the fans and now the second season of the series is on-air.
