Lahore, 22nd February: Lahore Flying Club has filed a petition against the government of Pakistan.
Baaghi TV: Lahore Flying Club has filed a case against the government and the Central Business District Development Authority Ordinance for a restraining order.
The petition states that the project issued by the government at Walton Airport by the Authority will affect the activities of civil aviation.
North India Flying Club was regularly allotted this place for civil aviation in 1932. After partition, North India Flying Club was changed to Lahore Flying Club.
Walton Airport was established by the British government in 1918 and was a British military base in World War II.
The 1,200-Kanal airport is located at the confluence of Gulberg Model Town and Ferozepur Road in Lahore, where there is a small forest of 7,000 to 9,000 tall trees that attract millions of Gulberg Ferozepur Road and Model Town residents.
Not only does it provide thousands of tons of oxygen daily, but it also provides clean air to the population of Lahore, which makes air pollution in these areas much lower than in other parts of the city.
More than seven nurseries in the same area also sell and buy a variety of fruit plants and beautiful flowers that make the environment more attractive. About 2,000 people also get employment in these nurseries while people also get plants of their choice from these nurseries located at the confluence of the city.
Due to the business hub, these nurseries will also be removed and this small forest spread over an area of 25 to 17 acres will also be removed.
Pollution will increase and more than two thousand people will be unemployed. Whether they will get a job in the business hub or not, the nursery set up at a cost of crores of rupees will not be known yet and whether they will get an alternative place or not.
On the other hand, if Walton Airport is scrapped, the future of the more than 200 students from different universities who are becoming pilots and undergoing daily training is also at stake.
Walton Airport, also known as the Lahore Club, has historic status. Many leaders of the subcontinent, including Quaid-e-Azam, and many officials in the British Raj used this airport and this airport is also being used by former and current members of parliament as an emergency.
