Lahore, 31st march: Prime minister Imran Khan has reiterated the need of wearing a face mask during the deadly third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting of the National Coordination Committee for COVID and said that the most effective strategy to combat the third wave of COVID-19 is to control the spread and use masks.

The Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the state of coronavirus outbreak in the country, the rate of positive cases, the availability of the vaccine to the public and the steps being taken to ensure adequate availability of vaccine in the near future.

The premier expressed concern over the negligence of the people in implementing the Corona SOPs.

The Prime Minister said that a comprehensive awareness campaign should be launched to ensure implementation of Corona SOPs.

PM Khan added that experience from around the world has shown that the use of masks has been the most effective in preventing the pandemic.

The Prime Minister further said that the strategy for dealing with the third wave of COVID-19 must be formulated keeping in view the economic situation of the country and the plight of the people in particular.

He said that the poorest people are most affected by the epidemic. The whole of our strategy is to provide relief to the poor and protect them from the negative effects of the plague.

The Prime Minister said that the last wave of COVID-19 affected the employment of 20 million people in Pakistan alone.

He said that the Ehsas Emergency Cash Program provided effective relief to the poor.

According to reports, the provincial chief ministers and officials briefed the prime minister on the situation in their respective provinces.

The Prime Minister directed all the provincial governments to ensure the effective role of the district administration in mobilizing the people for the implementation of Corona SOPs.
