Lahore, 28th May: A Norwegian-Somali model Rawdah Mohamed who protested against the Hijab ban in France has been announced as the editor of Vogue Scandinavia.
The Hijabi model and influencer of Somali origin becomes the editor of the world-famous fashion magazine Vogue.
Rawdah Mohamed is known for her campaign ‘HandsOffMyHijab’, which she started in April this year. She vocally protested against the proposed French law to ban minors wearing Hijab in public in France.
Influencer Rawdah Mohamed announced on her social media account Instagram that she has been appointed as the fashion editor of Vogue Scandinavia that will be launched this summer.
She posted on her Instagram handle on Tuesday that she is all set to take up the role at one of the most iconic brands in fashion.
Mohamed has been featured in high-profile fashion and beauty campaigns where she collaborated with many big brands of the fashion industry.
She is popular for combining street style with high fashion with her tailored looks.
Mohamed is a vocal activist who speaks on major issues around the world. She has over 130,000 followers on Instagram.
Sharing her instances with the followers online, the model had recalled how she had to face bullying when she decided to wear Hijab as a young girl.
Rawdah also shared her experiences of being rejected from many jobs due to the Hijab. She told how she was physically and verbally assaulted on so many occasions that she had to carry a spare Hijab every time she went outside.
Vogue Scandinavia is the 28th global edition of Vogue which is being launched this August. The magazine will feature Nordic countries including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.
Mohamed will become the first Hijab-wearing editor of color at the world-famous western fashion magazine Vogue.
