Britain added to Dutch high-risk list

Lahore, 13th June: Britain has been added to the Dutch high-risk list, where quarantine will be made mandatory from Tuesday.

According to reports, the Netherlands has declared Britain to be a very high-risk area for coronavirus, which means no one can travel unless it is absolutely necessary.

The Dutch health ministry announced on Friday evening that the decision was taken after the delta variant of the coronavirus has become a dominant strain in the UK.

It is to be noted that Britain recorded 8,125 COVID-19 infections on Friday, which is the highest daily count since February and hospital admissions rose by another 40% week-on-week.

The health ministry said that Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar and Nepal have also been added to the very high-risk list, for the same reason. India was already included.

The decision by the health ministry means that just after midnight on Tuesday, everyone who will return to the Netherlands from Britain will go into mandatory quarantine for at least five days of pay a fine of €339. They should also carry a complete quarantine declaration certificate or be fined €95.

The notification added that people traveling by plane or boat must have a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours and a fast test not older than 24 hours. The same goes for car, bus and train passengers.

However, for people working in the transport industry, there are some exceptions.

It is pertinent to mention here that last month, the Netherlands placed a ban again on flights from very high-risk areas with mandatory quarantine.
