Lahore, 24th June: Shortage of petrol expected in Pakistan after oil tankers start a countrywide protest.

According to reports, the All Pakistan Oil Tankers Contractors Association went on a countrywide strike on Thursday, which may lead to a shortage of petroleum products in the country.

The protesting oil tankers have announced that they will cut off the supply of petroleum products to fuel stations in the country until their demands are not met. They have stopped the oil tankers wherever they were in the country.

As per details, Abidullah Afridi, the association’s president has demanded that income and withholding tax be reduced from 3.5 percent to 2.5 pc.

An office-bearer of the association, Shoaib Ashraf has said that they should be given a share in the White Oil Pipeline (WOP).

It is to be noted that last year in July too, the Oil Tankers and Contractors Association had announced a countrywide strike for an indefinite period against the increase in income tax, provincial service and toll taxes.

The association had cut off the oil supply throughout the country after the government failed to resolve its issues.
