It has been revealed that 38,557 doses of coronavirus vaccine have been allegedly wasted in Punjab “due to non-provision of the optimum ‘temperature at storage”.
According to health department sources, the highest number of vaccines was lost in Lahore which was 2,959. Moreover, 1,265 in Mandi Bahauddin, 1,170 in Bahawalnagar, 1,140 in Bahawalpur and 1,111 doses were allegedly wasted in Chakwal.
Similarly, 1,132 doses were lost in Sahiwal, 1,015 in Sargodha, 1,085 in Gujranwala, 1,098 in Jhelum, 1,096 in Muzaffargarh, 1,045 in Multan and 1,040 in Lodhran.

On the other hand, provincial health minister Yasmeen Rashid said that the province has a complete record of vaccines, the vaccine was not wasted.

In a statement, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SH), Sarah Aslam, said the numbers of doses being wasted during the vaccination process were being misreported by certain sections of the media.
