Lahore, 5th July: The world’s richest person Jeff Bazos is stepping down as Amazon CEO today.
According to reports, Amazon founder, Jeff Bazos has stepped down from his day-to-day operations of the company on Monday and handed over the reins to Andy Jassy.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the 57-year-old has a total net worth of $203bn (£146bn). He is now expected to devote more of his time to new projects and early initiatives.
The Amazon founder would be investing more of his time in fighting climate change and overseeing his newspaper, The Washington Post.
As per reports, Bezos may be leaving his current role as the company’s CEO but isn’t leaving Amazon itself. Instead he’s transitioning to the role of an executive chair, where he will function as a strategic adviser to the CEO.
Andy Jassy is now the new chief executive officer of Amazon. He joined the company in 1997 and since 2003, he has led its cloud computing platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS).
It is pertinent to mention here that among the most immediate adventures for Mr. Bazos is a launch with his private spaceflight company Blue Origin, which is scheduled to take off on 20 July.
