Faryal Talpur disqualification case, we will continue proceedings on the case says Election Commission.

The Election Commission heard a disqualification petition against Sindh Assembly member Faryal Talpur.

Member Election Commission Irshad Qaiser said that the Sindh High Court has ruled on the petition against Faryal Talpur. The lawyer said that an intra-court appeal against the decision has been filed in the Islamabad High Court. Member Election Commission Balochistan asked whether the Islamabad High Court has stayed the case. On which the lawyer said that the Islamabad High Court did not give any waiver. He said that in such a case we will continue the proceedings on the case.

The Election Commission has directed Faryal Talpur to submit a reply to the disqualification petition. The Member Election Commission said that after the reply, the arguments will be completed as soon as possible and the decision will be announced. Lawyer Shehzad Rajput said that Farooq Naik wanted the hearing of the case to be held after Eid. Member Irshad Qaiser said that the disqualification petition of the Member Assembly should be heard on daily basis. The hearing was adjourned till July 15.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur has filed a petition in the court saying that on the request of MPAs Arsalan Taj and Rabia Afzal, the Election Commission opened a disqualification case on the non-compliance of both the MPAs.

Earlier, the petition was rejected. On February 8, the ECP reopened the case on re-application. The ECP should declare the February 8 decision null and void and stop the proceedings. I am Asif Zardari’s sister. Political opponents are stuck in baseless cases. Yes, both the MPAs had earlier applied to the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly for my disqualification. The application of both the MPAs was rejected by the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly. The Election Commission does not have the power to hear the petition against the decision of the Speaker.
