Despite illness, Asif Ali Zardari appears before court, with the court offering its verdict on plea for bail.

Islamabad High Court (IHC) hears petition on alleged property in US.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari appeared at court today, having pleaded for bail following arrest. The registrar office stated that his ambulance was allowed to come in, since the Former President’s health was in critical condition. He came on foot by himself, and strict security measures were taken for the occasion. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders were also with him, a nd a wheelchair for the former president was also brought.

In regards to the New York flat inquiry, Asif Zardari’s bail was granted for Rs. 5 lakh till 28th July and as such, the IHC barred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting him, issuing them a notice seeking response.

Earlier, the Former President submitted a response to a questionnaire sent by NAB regarding the New York apartment investigation. He sought a month’s time in a written reply, stating that one month should be given to collect information.

It should be noted that Asif Ali Zardari is being prosecuted by NAB on several cases, having previously been arrested and released on bail by court. The Former President is currently said to be in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
