Lahore: Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar visited various Imam Bargahs and routes of mourning processions of the city including 145-A Model Town,Jamia tul Muntazir Model Town, Pando Street Islampura.
He reviewed the security arrangements for majalis and Imambargahs in Muharram ul Haram.DIG Operations Sajid Kiani, related SPs, DSPs, SHOs and other related officers accompanied him. Commander Lahore Police also met with the organizers of Imam Bargahs and License holders of majalis of City Division along with members of divisional and executive peace committee as well as Shia and Sunni religious leaders and discussed with them security arrangements and the solvable issues. Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said round the clock monitoring of social media pages will be ensured through Special Monitoring Cells in Muharram ul Haram and Police along with CTD and FIA will take strict action against uploading and making viral controversial, blasphemous videos, inciting posts, texts and hate material promoting extremity, religious disputes and sectarianism. CCPO Lahore stressed upon the need for creating religious harmony and brotherhood, forging unity among the people of different groups, sects and beliefs to ensure maintenance of peace and solidarity in the city in wake of changing situation at Northwestern borders and strategic importance of our country as our enemy can try to shatter the peace of our country and damage our national interests by conspiracy of religious differences. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that it was the need of the hour to foil nefarious designs of anti-state elements to disturb peace of the country, adding that love and fraternity should be promoted among various sects setting aside our individual and collective differences. He issued directions for the foolproof security arrangements of majalis and processions and said that around 15 thousands Police officers and officials along with personnel of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, Anti Riot Force, Elite Force and Ababeel Squad. CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that implementation of Government directions regarding Coronavirus preventive measures should be ensured in collaboration with management of Imam Bargahs, Majalis and Peace committees in wake of Delta Variant wave of pandemic. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar requested the Organizers, License Holders and Shia religious leaders to convince the participants of processions and majalis to get themselves vaccinated for safety of their health and life.CCPO Lahore said that bunkers will be constructed at the rooftops of Imam Bargahs, walkthrough gates and CCTV cameras would be installed and metal detectors provided for the search purpose of the participants of religious programs of Muharram ul Haram. The participants of Muharram ul Haram programs would only be allowed to enter the processions after complete checking and body search by Lahore Police officials as well as volunteers of the community by metal detectors and walkthrough gates. Lady Police officers and volunteers are deployed for the checking of female participants of the events. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that physical as well as electronic barriers, bob wires would also be installed to ensure safety of the participants of main processions. Lahore Police will ensure checking of all the persons at Entry and Exit points of the city including bus stands and railway station with the help of different Police Apps, he added.
