Karachi: A factory fire broke out in Mehran Town, Korangi District, this morning due to which 16 people lost their lives. According to the latest details, it has been revealed that the factory was illegally set up on a residential plot.
Details state that the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained. 35 people were inside the building when it broke out, and so far 16 people have been reported dead and several have been injured, who have been shifted to a hospital.
It has been revealed that the factory was set up illegally on a residential plot in the Overseas Society in Karachi, having been built on plot number C40. KDA officials say commercial construction on residential plots is completely unlawful and further investigations are being conducted in this regard.

The fire occurred at around 10.30 am this morning. The workers tried to run and to go to the roof, but due to no emergency exit and the door to the roof being locked, they got trapped and burnt alive. Some died of suffocation. The fire has since been brought under control and the cooling process is going on, but loss of life has been great.
