Founder of Akhuwat Foundation Receives Asia’s Nobel Prize 2021

Lahore, 31st August: Asia’s Nobel Prize, the Ramon Magsaysay Award 2021 has been presented to Dr. Amjad Saqib, the founder of Pakistan’s Akhuwat Foundation.
According to details, Dr. Amjad Saqib has dedicated the award to the Pakistani nation. The Magsaysay Foundation Philippines appreciates the services of Dr. Amjad Saqib, pays him tribute for alleviating poverty and restoration of human dignity.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Amjad Saqib is a Pakistani social entrepreneur, development practitioner, former civil servant and author. Dr. Saqib is the founder of the Akhuwat Foundation in Pakistan. It may be noted that Akhuwat Foundation has provided Rs 150 billion interest-free loans.

Dr. Amjad Saqib received his education from Government College Lahore and at King Edward Medical College, Lahore. He also received higher education in the United States.
The Queen of Great Britain has also awarded Dr. Amjad Saqib with the “Point of Light Award”. Dr. Amjad Saqib has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 while the President of Pakistan has also awarded Dr. Amjad Saqib with Sitara Imtiaz.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Ramon Magsaysay Award is named after the President of the Philippines who died in a plane crash in 1957. He is considered to have brought the Philippines into a golden age with good democracy and zero corruption.
The award is presented every year to individuals who have contributed to the development of society. Each year, four great personalities from 40 Asian countries are awarded the Nobel Prize.
In the past, these awards have been received by Mother Teresa in 1962, the Dalai Lama in 1958, and Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
