Sept 10, 2021: More than 4,000 corona cases were recorded in Pakistan on Thursday, for the first time in a period of seven days according to NCOC figures.
The daily case count has been hovering between 3,000-4,000 for most of the month as the country continues its fight against the fourth wave of pandemic. According to data released by the National Command and Operations Center NCOC, 4,062 new infections were reported in the country in the last 24 hours after taking 63,161 Covid 19 tests, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 1,194,198.
The NCOC records also show Pakistan lost 84 people to the deadly virus on Thursday, bringing the total death toll to 26580 deaths. The NCOC figures show that the daily death toll has been hovering around 100 for a week. A total of 18,347,597 tests has been conducted for the pandemic so far.
On Thursday, according to the NCOC, 640 hospitals with COVID 19 facilities with 5578 patients admitted across the country.
The facility utlization data shows, the number of vents occupied % (4 major areas) stands at; Multan – 70%, Lahore – 55%, Bahawalpur – 47%, Rawalpindi – 37%. Oxygen beds occupied % (4 major areas), Swabi – 78%, Gujranwala – 72%, Gujrat – 63% and, Multan – 57%. 525 vents occupied across Pakistan. There is no patient on vent in Balochistan and GB.
According to NCOC figures, since the start of the pandemic, 1,079,867 People recovered so far across Pakistan making it a significant count.
For the second day in a row, the number of active cases dropped slightly to 91,589 as 4,136 recovered in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries has now risen to 1,076,112.
NCOC data shows the positivity rate is now 6.43%. Since August 24, Pakistan’s positive rate has been less than 7% in 15 of the 17 days. Pakistan is reporting an average of 3,3778 new infections every day, 64% of the peak – the highest daily average reported on June 17.
The NCOC also shows the country has so far given at least 64,554,859 doses of the COVID vaccine.
During the last reported week, an average of 1, 1,192,780 doses are given daily in Pakistan. At this rate, it will take another 37 days to administer vaccine enough for another 10% population.
