Oct 29, 2021: Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sadhu’s wife and former MLA Navjot Kaur Sadhu on Saturday lashed out at former chief minister Capt Amrinder Singh over his relationship with Pakistani writer Aroosa Alam.

Navjot Kaur Sadhu alleged that Aroosa Alam had undue influence on appointments in Punjab Police during the rule of Captain Amrinder Singh. She also accused Amrinder Singh of taking kickbacks and giving “gifts” to a Pakistani journalist. She says not a single posting in the Punjab Police Department took place without a gift or payment to Arousa Alam. The bride’s son used to bring money [to Amrinder Singh], ”claimed Navjot Kaur Sadhu.

He also said that Aroosa Alam was like DGP of Punjab Police while Captain Amrinder Singh was the Chief Minister. Navjot Kaur Sadhu sarcastically said that now that he has been evicted, he should go to Pakistan and spend all his time with his good friend Alam.

Reacting to the news that Captain Amrinder Singh may form a new political party in the near future, Navjot Kaur Sadhu commented that such a development would not make any difference to the Punjab Congress.

The former MLA’s scathing attack on Amrinder Singh came a day after Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that Aroosa Alam had links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) that should be investigated.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa claimed that Amrinder Singh had been friends with Alam for years, she had stayed in India for many years and her visa was extended from time to time.

Amrinder Singh retaliated against the Congress leader, saying that Randhawa was now resorting to personal attacks. He also clarified that Aroosa Alam had been coming to India for 16 years with the approval of the Center.

“You were a minister in my cabinet, I never heard you complain about Arousa Alam. And she has been coming with the approval of GoI [Government of India] for 16 years. Or you are accusing the NDA and the Congress governments as having merged with Pakistan’s ISI?” The captain said in a series of tweets.

Punjab Deputy CM Randhawa has stepped up his attack on the Sangh after his unofficial exit later as chief minister. He called Singh an “opportunist” when the former chief minister announced that he would start his own political party.
