Jan 26, 2022: The killers of Capital News journalist Hasnain Shah have been apprehended and police have arrested 3 people in relation to his murder.
According to a private TV news outlet, the victim Hasnain Shah was assassinated by a jeweler group. The victim was having an argument with him consequent to which Shah was killed.
The owner of the jewelery group involved in the murder and the accused are under investigation by the police. The victim was killed outside the press club on Monday. The search for the accused Amir Butt who killed Hasnain Shah is underway.
On the other hand, PML-N member Punjab Assembly Hina Pervaiz Butt filed a notice in the Punjab Assembly against the murder of journalist Hasnain Shah in Lahore. It is to be noted that Hasnain Shah was shot dead by unknown assailants outside Lahore Press Club. Hasnain Shah was coming to the club in his car when he was fired upon. A large number of journalists were also present at the scene.
Senior crime reporter of Capital TV Hasnain Shah was shot dead by unidentified men in broad day light in front of the Lahore Press Club, Simla Pahari Chowk on Monday.
The shooters opened straight fire on him and seven bullets hit him in the chest that resulted into his instant death. Police have removed the body to the morgue, collected evidence and CCTV footages of nearby cameras.
According to eyewitnesses, Hasnain Shah was driving his car from his office on Davis Road towards Garhi Shahu. He had just reached the traffic signal outside the press club when two shooters on a bike approached him from the driving side and opened indiscriminate fire. He got seven bullets in his chest and died on the spot.
According to The News, former LPC president Arshad Ansari and Bureau Chief of the Capital TV Shadab Riaz were the first one who rushed to the spot soon after hearing the gunshots. Arshad tried to rescue Hasnain from the car but he breathed his last. Journalists and heavy contingent of police rush to the spot. DIG Investigations Shahzada Sultan, CTO Muntazir Mehdi, SSP Investigations and others visited the crime scene and supervised collection of forensic evidence.
Lahore Press Club President Azam Chaudhry, Senior Vice President Salman Qureshi, Vice President Nasira Atiq, Secretary Abdul Majeed Sajid, Joint Secretary Salik Nawaz, Finance Secretary Shiraz Hasnat and members of the governing body strongly condemned the incident.
