LAHORE: Under-Training Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) belonging to 48th Common was briefed by Additional IG Investigation Munir A Sheikh on Wednesday on the affairs of Punjab Investigation Branch. DIG Investigation and Monitoring Nasir Mahmood Satti, SP Investigation Branch Asad Mahmood were also present at the briefing held at CCPO office Conference room.
The 27 members delegation was led by Director Central Planning and Training Unit (CPTU) National Police Academy DIG Babar Sarfraz whereas Course Commander SSP Umar Riaz Cheema and SP CRO Zeeshan Nasrullah Rana also accompanied. The under training police officers also called on the CCPO Fayyaz Ahmad Dev, SSP Administration Atif Nazir and other senior police officers. DIG Investigation and Monitoring Nasir Mahmood Satti apprised the under training officers in detail regarding the various functions of Punjab Investigation Branch including its human resource, regional monitoring system, CTD, Criminal Investigation analysis, change of investigation, development of strategic and analytical information on crimes and criminals, liaison with Punjab Forensic Science Authority, heinous and miscellaneous crime cases monitoring and their statistical analysis. Additional IG Investigation Munir A Sheikh highlighted different aspects of crime theory, and its deterrence and said that eradication of crimes and maintenance of a peaceful society was only possible by conviction of accused persons by the relevant courts. Investigation based on merit and strong presentable proofs could only lead to increase the ratio of challanging and convictions of criminals, he further said. Target hardening and creating deterrence was most essential to refrain criminals from committing crime, Munir A Sheikh added. Additional IG Investigation said Punjab Police had arrested accused persons and challenged sizeable number of cases of heinous crimes during the last year. He advised the ASPs to adopt latest IT based techniques and skills of investigation as well as Forensic Scientology to assure conviction of hardened criminals. CCPO Fayyaz Ahmad Dev directed the trainee police officers to achieve moral authority for permanent success in their future professional career by following the values of good discipline, conduct and skillful professionalism. Police officers should use the authority and power bestowed by Allah according to the law, only to serve human beings by protection of their life and property and curb criminals,he concluded.
