Former England all-rounder Tim bresnan announces retirement from cricket

Jan 31, 2022: England cricketer Tim Bresnan has resigned from all formats of cricket.

According to foreign media reports, all-rounder Tim Bresnan, who was part of the England team that won the T20 World Cup in 2010, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Announcing the decision, he announced the end of his 20-year playing career.

Tim Bresnan, 36, bows out on a high after helping Warwickshire claim their eighth County Championship title in 2021; All-rounder represented England 142 times.

In addition to representing the team in world cricket, Tim Bresnan has been playing brilliantly in domestic cricket. The resigned player says that this is the right time for his retirement. “It’s been an incredibly tough decision, but after returning to winter training I think it’s the right time. I’ve worked hard all season to prepare for my 21st professional year,” Bresnan said, “but I don’t think I can reach the high standards I set for myself and my colleagues,” he continued.

“I will always be proud of my career, looking forward to my past,” he added. Bresnan has taken 72 wickets in 23 Tests, 109 wickets in 85 ODIs and 24 wickets in 34 T20I matches in his career in international cricket. Bresnan was part of the England squad that won the Ashes in Australia in 2010-11 and at home in 2013, representing his country on 142 occasions, including 23 Tests.

At domestic level, he played for his home county of Yorkshire from 2001 to 2019 before ending with two seasons at Warwickshire which culminated in helping them claim an eighth County Championship title last year.

Across his first-class career, Bresnan amassed 7,138 runs and 575 wickets with seven centuries and nine five-wicket hauls. His highest score was an unbeaten 169 against Durham as part of a record seventh-wicket stand with Johnny Bairstow, while the right-arm seamer’s best bowling figures were 5 for 28.

His time with Yorkshire saw him help them win back-to-back County Championship titles in 2014 and 2015, and Bresnan received his Warwickshire Cap in April last year after becoming a pivotal part of the team through key contributions with bat and ball.
