Pakistan-born leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed, who is also playing in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7 for Lahore Qalandars, is now being called out along with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for letting a player represent one of the teams who defamed Pakistan on international media.
Lahore Qalandars’ drafted Australian leg-spinner, Fawad Ahmed, as a partial replacement for Afghanistan’s leggie Rashid Khan who became unavailable for Qalandars’ in the last round matches as well as the playoffs.
Fawad Ahmed represented Australia in three ODIs and two T20s and has also featured in the previous PSL seasons having played for Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United.

According to Fawad Ahmed, he received death threats from Taliban representatives and considered the extremist attack on the Sri Lankan team-bus in 2009, before reaching the decision to leave Pakistan. He seeked asylum in Australia and in 2013, he was granted Australian citizenship. He opened up to several international media outlets including Indian channels about his experiences and how he was forced to flee in 2009 after receiving death threats from extremists in native Pakistan for his perceived promotion of Western values.
However, netizens called out PCB for allowing Fawad Ahmed play in the Pakistan Super League, who has ‘shamelessly’ defamed Pakistan on several Indian channels. People also questioned PCB’s diligence, criticizing their selection of players who do not keep their own country in their good books.

When Fawad Ahmed revealed that receiving death threats in Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (KPK) is common, netizens questioned that 50% of Pakistan team is from KPK, how come their life was not in threat?
Neither PCB nor Fawad Ahmed have given any statements regarding the criticism.
