Punjab govt shoots down PTI propaganda over alleged women mistreatment arrested over May 9 events

The Punjab government has released the details of the women arrested in the May 9 incidents.

Punjab Minister for Information Amir Mir in a statement issued here on Sunday said a total of 32 women were arrested in the May 9 incidents.

He confirmed that out of 32 arrested women who were involved in terrorist incidents, 21 have been released and only 11 women are imprisoned in Punjab jails on judicial remand.

Amir Mir said that propaganda from a political party about the mistreatment of women in jails is a lie as his government believes in women’s rights following the Islamic teachings of giving honour and respect to them.

The Punjab minister said they can’t even imagine the mistreatment of women but the women involved in terrorist activities are being prosecuted according to law.
