Politics is a dirty game. Politicians, a huge percentage; have a sharp antenna & a hound’s nose to catch the signal & smell the change of direction in the air as it blows!
Ninth of May 2023 was the death knell for Imran Khan & his party. He & ‘it’ are done & dusted. Political snowballing effect started and continues to gain momentum. Those rolling stones who rolled over to Khan’s party, were fast in marking the route of navigating to greener pastures. They jumped the proverbial sinking ship! Some “die-hard” PTI supporters who claimed “till death do us part” were quick to join JKT’s Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party. It was launched with great fanfare & hullaballoo.

Unfortunately, news coming from Dubai reveals that neither PML-N nor PPP are willing to make any seat concessions to the newly-born party. The new entrants to the new party are already looking to join the older entities like PPP. While this may happen-it may hold some exceptions for some who are persona non grata thereby not welcome.
The question being asked among the people of Pakistan [read the inconsequential crawlies who make no difference] is, will these defaulters of their previous loyalty to PTI and having committed all kinds of corruptions and some may even have put in their share in the act of treason on Pakistan’s own 9/11 be allowed to be whitewashed & thereby absolved of every wrongdoing by virtue of ditching PTI?

Should this happen- it will be a pity. For once, till now, the optics are that there will be a serious accountability not only of the perpetuators of 9th May but also the corrupt practices conducted! However, if these running babies are allowed exemption from their misdeeds it will mean that the accountability process is exclusive and not inclusive. The process must encompass the corrupt acts, may it relate to any area. Bribes, corrupt actions of any shades & hue, media personnel, Army & judiciary.
The important thing is to have the people realize, that for once, and for a change, the maxim of Jurisprudence, ““Justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done” is effective. [This dictum was laid down by Lord Hewart, the then Lord Chief Justice of England in the case of Rex v. Sussex Justices, [1924] 1 KB 256.]”
