The Supreme Court of India has constituted a five-member bench to hear petitions challenging the abrogation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
According to media reports, Indian Supreme Court will hear the case from 11th of this month.
In 2019, India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party had revoked occupied Kashmir’s special status by repealing Article 370 of the constitution.
The move allowed people from the rest of the country to have the right to acquire property in occupied Kashmir and settle there permanently.
More than 20 petitions have been filed questioning the constitutional validity of the Indian government’s Aug 2019 decision to abrogate Article 370.
