According to an ISPR statement released Thursday, personnel of security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Shakas area of Khyber District during the night between July 5 and 6 which resulted in a gunbattle with the terrorists who fired first at the raiding party.

While establishment of blocking positions to cut the escape routes of terrorists was underway, terrorists were spotted by Major Mian Abdullah Shah who was leading the operation from the front. As a result of heavy exchange of fire, the brave son of the nation, Major Mian Abdullah Shah, (aged 33 years, resident of Kohat) having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat (martyrdom).

The security forces, however, managed to arrest three terrorists and their facilitators from the area.

Later, sanitization of the area was carried out to eliminate the terrorists present in the area.

The ISPR statement said that the security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
