Former principal secretary Azam Khan recorded his statement of 164 in the case of American cipher.
He said that on 8 March 2022, the Foreign Secretary told Azam Khan about the cipher and Shah Mehmood Qureshi had already told the Prime Minister about the cipher.
“Imran Khan decided to use the cipher to create a narrative against the opposition and the establishment. Imran Khan kept the cipher which was a violation of the law, ” he added.
“On asking for the cipher back, Imran Khan told he has lost it,” he added.
According to Azam Khan, Imran Khan spoke to him about presenting the cipher to the public as evidence of an foreign conspiracy.
In the Bani Gala meeting on March 28 and the Special Cabinet meeting on March 30, the issue of the cipher came up for discussion and at the meetings, the Foreign Secretary briefed the participants on the contents of the cipher.
