Over 50 people killed and 70 others were injured following an explosion near a mosque where people were gathering for a Milad-un-Nabi procession in Mastung, Balochistan.
According to the Mastung assistant commissioner, the blast took place near Madinah Masjid.
The Mastung deputy superintendent of police (DSP) was among the dead.
On information, security forces and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Hospital.
The condition of some of the injured is critical, the hospital sources said.
According to local authorities, a state of emergency has been declared at the hospitals of Mustang and also at the Civil Hospital Quetta.
All the doctors, pharmacists, nurses and paramedical staff have been called on emergency duty.
On the other hand, investigations to ascertain the nature of the explosion were underway.
The blast drew widespread condemnation from the international community and from the entire political parties in Pakistan.
President Alvi and caretaker Prime Minister Kakar, former premier sShehbaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the deadly blast.
