LONDON: Natasha Beresford, 26, a dental nurse by profession has managed to win the first-ever makeup-free beauty pageant.

Beauty pageants have been around for hundreds of years, but in a first of its kind, a twenty-six-year-old dental nurse from London has won the makeup-free beauty pageant in a nod to changing beauty standards for the women of today.

The 2023 Miss London makeup-free beauty pageant permitted women to wear their own clothing so long as they fit the requirement of: “boho-themed ethically sourced clothing”. Despite what the pageants have been in the past, they all had one thing in common i.e. intelligent, successful women, if not both.

Sponsored by Cetuem London natural skincare brand, nineteen women competed in the 2023 contest, with a surprise twist. This year, the pageant prohibited contestants from applying even lipgloss. In fact, they were required to compete without the use of any cosmetic product that could enhance their beauty, including mascara, lip gloss, foundation, and others.

Participating in the contest, Natasha Beresford, 26, was crowned the winner. Named Miss London, Beresford and her fellow competitors have managed to prove beauty is more than physical appearance. Rather it includes kindness, strong values, and being driven toward accomplishments.

Wearing a white lace dress by Shikoba Bride, known for their ethically and sustainably produced wedding dresses in the UK, Beresford, 26, proves she is a beauty with brains. Working as a dental nurse at the Royal London Dental Hospital, where she has been working since 2021, Beresford provides treatment to children who have given her the nickname “real-life tooth fairy”.
