Iran’s embassy in Kabul has condemned the recent attack on a Shia mosque in Herat province, which occurred on the evening of April 29.

The embassy issued a statement expressing readiness to enhance cooperation with Afghanistan in counter-terrorism efforts.

It also urged the Islamic Emirate to apprehend and bring to justice those responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s former president, Hamid Karzai, denounced the assault and called it a terror attack.

Hamid Karzai on X labeled it a violation of all religious and human norms.

Abdullah Abdullah, the head of the High Council for National Reconciliation in the former government on the other hand has called the attack on a Shia mosque in Herat “cowardly and terrorism.”

He expressed sympathy with the victims and survivors of the incident, stated that the attack is contrary to Islamic and human principles.

The attack in Gozara district of western Herat province resulted in the deaths of seven worshipers, including the mosque’s Imam, and left several others injured.

To date, no group has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Security officials have not commented on the issue yet.
