The US State Department said that Washington supports direct talks between Pakistan and India, however, the scope of negotiations should be determined by the two neighbouring countries.

According to Kashmir Media Service, at a regular press briefing in Washington, the State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said “We appreciate our important partnerships with India and Pakistan. As previously said, we favor direct talks between India and Pakistan, but the speed, breadth, and character should be defined by those two countries, not by us”.

Miller also said the US and Pakistan have a shared interest in combating threats to regional security.
