In a raid conducted in central Sri Lanka, authorities arrested 12 Indian nationals suspected of being involved in cybercrimes and seized their equipment.
Sri Lankan police have been intensifying their efforts to crack down on foreigners arriving on tourist visas and engaging in suspected criminal activities. This organized group of 12 Indians was apprehended at a house in Halloluwa, Kandy, approximately 120 km east of Colombo.
The Kandy Crime Investigations Unit confiscated 22 desktop computers, four laptops, over 50 advanced cellular phones, eleven ATM cards, and various other pieces of equipment.
Investigations revealed that the suspects had rented the house for Rs 300,000 per month to conduct their secret activities.
