On Friday, after the strike which targeted and killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanese capital Beirut, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi accused Israeli Defence Force (IDF) of using multiple US-made “bunker buster” bombs.
These bombs are development of the modern warfare and are designed to target military bunkers, underground facilities, and hardened sites that conventional ammunitions cannot destroy.
“Just this morning, the Israeli regime used multiple 5,000-pound bunker busters that had been gifted to them by the US to hit residential areas in Beirut,” he told a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Israeli army claimed the “liquidation” of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a recent air strike on southern suburb of Beirut.
In a statement on social media platform X, spokesman of Israeli army Avichay Adraee informed that Nasrallah was ‘liquidated’ during an operation targeting the central command of Hezbollah which was located beneath a residential building in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
In addition, Channel 12 of Israel also reported that Israeli air forces dropped “about 85 bunker-penetrating bombs weighing a ton of explosives each.”
