BEIRUT: On Sunday, the Lebanese Education Ministry announced they would be suspending in-person classes in Beirut until December, due to ‘safety’ concerns after air strikes from Israel. 

According to an Al Arabiya report, Abbas Halabi, the Minister for Education issued a statement announcing that schools and other technical institutes will no longer be conducting “in-person teaching” in Beirut and parts of Metn, Baabda and Chouf districts from Monday over “Safety” concerns for the students, their parents, and educational institutions.

On Sunday, in its latest series of strikes Lebanon, Israel attacked the army center killing one soldier and wounding eighteen others as confirmed by the Lebanese military. Najib Mikati, the country’s caretaker PM condemned the attack as an assault against US-led ceasefire efforts calling it a “direct, bloody message”. 

A statement issued by the PM’s office read: “[Israel is] again writing in Lebanese blood a brazen rejection of the solution that is being discussed”.
