Despite Bumrah’s heroics, West Indies terms Shami as India’s best bowler
Contrarary to common notion, with Jasprit Bumrah being India’s best pacer, West Indies legendary pacer Andy Roberts has termed Mohammad Shami as India’s best.
Roberts, was a member of the famous West Indies pace quartet – Michael Holding, Joel Garner, and Colin Croft being the others – that terrorised batters across the globe in the 19070s and 80s, has said that Jasprit Bumrah might get more wickets but Shami is the complete package.
“Shami has been India’s best bowler for a while. He may not get the amount of wickets Jasprit Bumrah gets, but he’s the full package and is more consistent than the rest. Shami swings the ball, Shami seams the ball and Shami’s control is as good as Bumrah’s,” Roberts was quoted by Mid-day.
Roberts’ comments come at a time when Shami’s availability for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is still in doubt. The veteran of 64 Tests has not played for India since the ODI World Cup in November last year. His last Test match was also against Australia in the WTC final in June last year.
