The Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is deliberately fueling communal tensions to divert attention from pressing public issues.
Mehbooba Mufti talking to reporters in Srinagar said the BJP thrives on polarizing society and targeting Muslims to further its political agenda.
She asserted that divisive politics benefited the BJP, allowing it to consolidate votes by exploiting religious sentiments. “It suits them to create religious discord while ignoring the economic distress, rising unemployment, and growing frustration among youth,” she added.
Mehbooba further warned that such polarization tactics could have long-term consequences on the social fabric of the country. “India has always been a diverse and inclusive country, but the BJP’s divisive politics is pushing it towards instability,” she remarked.
