Kabul (18th Oct, 2019): At least 30 people were killed and dozens seriously  injured by a blast inside an Afghan mosque.

Security officials said, a day after the United Nations said violence in the country had reached “unacceptable” levels, blast happened.

The explosion, which witnesses said collapsed the mosque’s roof, took place in Nangarhar the eastern province of Afghanistan and wounded at least 65 people, provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said in a statement.

He said the dead were “all worshippers” at the mosque in Haska Mina district, precisely 50 kilometres from the provincial capital Jalalabad.

Dr. Zarghoon, an security official at the government hospital in Haska Mina, gave a slightly higher number of 43 dead and 75 wounded.

There was no claim of responsibility by any terrorist organization. Both the Taliban and Daesh are active in eastern province Nangarhar.

Some 350 worshippers were inside the masjid at the time, Omar Ghorzang, a local resident told to international media.

“Dozens of people were killed and wounded and were taken in several ambulances,” Haji Amanat Khan, a 65-year-old local resident, told to media.
