Sunjay Kapur, a prominent Indian industrialist and former husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, died on 12 June 2025 at the age of 53 in the United Kingdom. Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, suffered a fatal heart attack while playing polo, according to multiple reports.

The incident occurred during a polo match, with some sources suggesting Kapur swallowed a bee, triggering the cardiac arrest. Despite immediate medical attention, he could not be saved. Suhel Seth, a business consultant and friend, confirmed the news on X, expressing condolences to Kapur’s family and colleagues at Sona Comstar.

Born into a prominent business family, Kapur was an MIT and Harvard alumnus. His personal life often drew public attention. He married three times: first to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani (divorced in 2000), then to Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and later to Priya Sachdev in 2017. Kapur and Kapoor, who divorced in 2016, share two children, Samaira and Kiaan. He also had a son, Azarias, with Sachdev and adopted her daughter from a previous marriage.

In Mumbai, Karisma Kapoor was visited by her sister Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora, who offered support following the news. The Bollywood community and business circles mourned Kapur’s sudden passing, with tributes highlighting his contributions to industry and sports.
