Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a trilateral political consultation meeting in Kabul with the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

In the meeting, the three countries emphasized not only strengthening mutual relations but also regional stability, economic connectivity, and the expansion of joint trade.

According to a statement from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participants stressed the need for fully utilizing the region’s potential through sustained cooperation to bring lasting prosperity to the people of the region.

The statement added that the meeting was held prior to the signing of a feasibility study agreement for the Trans-Afghan Railway project.

Amir Khan Muttaqi stated during the meeting that the Trans-Afghan project not only strengthens regional connectivity but also secures the shared interests of the three countries. He added that mutual interests create shared responsibilities, and those responsibilities can only be fulfilled through honest, sustained, and collective effort.

The statement further noted that officials from Uzbekistan and Pakistan also expressed their full support for lasting stability, economic development, and regional connectivity projects in Afghanistan. They emphasized Afghanistan’s pivotal role in connecting the region.

They reaffirmed the importance of continuing trilateral political consultations and said that the security and stability achieved in Afghanistan can help safeguard the shared interests of both Afghanistan and the region.
