KARACHI: Renowned actor, director, and producer Nabeel Zafar has expressed serious concern over the growing inflation and soaring electricity bills in Pakistan, describing the current economic climate as a major challenge for the average citizen.
Speaking during a private television program, Zafar remarked that the sharp rise in utility costs has made daily life increasingly difficult for many. “One can panic just by looking at the electricity bill,” he said, highlighting the financial strain faced by households across the country.

The veteran actor shared that he has become more mindful of electricity consumption in his own home, regularly reminding his family to switch off unnecessary lights and fans. With a touch of humor, he noted, “I feel like my father’s spirit has come into me—he used to warn us about electricity bills all the time.”
Zafar also mentioned that, as a cost-saving measure, he has installed a solar energy system at his residence. However, he pointed out the limitations of solar power during cloudy weather in Karachi, saying, “When it’s overcast, the system doesn’t work well. This, too, has become a source of concern for many.”

In a lighthearted moment, he jokingly appealed to the clouds, saying he wishes they would either rain or move away so the sun could shine and activate the solar panels.
During the program, Zafar also shared emotional reflections on his late parents, emphasizing their irreplaceable value. He noted that people often fail to fully appreciate their parents until after they are gone, calling them “a priceless blessing in life.”
Concluding his remarks, the actor expressed sorrow over the ongoing economic hardship, stating that the cost of living has risen to such a level that “it feels like we are fighting a daily battle just to survive.”
