A Sikh teen, Onkar Singh, has excelled in Lahore’s Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) 9th Class Examination 2025. The 15-year-old student scored 98 out of 100 in Islamiyat, a subject focused on the study of Islam as a religion, worldview, and civilisation, while scoring 60 in physics, 60 in chemistry, and 59 in biology.
Onkar is the son of Minmal Singh and has earned A+ grades in every subject, according to the marksheet from the BISE Lahore website.
Apart from Islamiyat, physics, chemistry, and biology, Onkar Singh scored 75 in English, 74 in Urdu, and 49 out of 50 in Translation of the Holy Quran.
Scoring exceptionally in subjects like Islamiyat and the Translation of the Holy Quran, while belonging to a different faith, shows that Onkar has not only put in significant intellectual effort but also values understanding diverse traditions.
In Punjab, a total of 380,000 candidates appeared in the annual 9th standard examination, of which 138,000 were declared successful while 169,000 failed to pass, reported Karachi-based ARY News.
The pass percentage stood at just 45%, highlighting how exceptional Onkar’s achievement is.
The results were officially released online on Wednesday.
